La Vuelta Femenina has concluded, SD Worx-Protime has continued strongly at the first women's Grand Tour of the Season.
In a Grand Tour filled with beautiful mountains, chaotic moments and incredible perseverance, SD Worx-Protime did not leave Spain with the red jersey, but they proved to have the strongest collective team with three stage wins across the week.
Lotte Kopecky was consistently at the forefront of the pack during the early stages of the race, and then went on to win stage 4 in Borja. Kopecky's performance across a variety of climbs, sprints and through chaos remaining consistent proves her as being more than just a powerful all-rounder.
Stage 5 spanned 119km from Léon to Astorga, and ended with a perfect 45km sprint after two big climbs. The stage was controlled by SD Worx-Protime, with Micha Bredewold winning the stage with Lotte Kopecky in second.
Stage 6 was a 106.5km-long mountain ascent of the formidable Les Praeres, with an uphill finish in Spanish rain. Anna van der Breggen shook off involvement in a crash during the previous stage to win stage 6. "It started steep and it finished steep," Van der Breggen said afterwards.
