SunGod x Protect Our Winters UK 2022

We’re supporting POW UK for the 4th year running. Here’s how the SunGod community is making a difference...

It’s been an incredible 3 years working with Protect Our Winters UK. Through the sell-out success of our Limited Edition SunGod x POW UK goggle straps for the past 3 winters, the SunGod community has made a massive impact on the work of the charity. Thanks to this ongoing show of support from you all, we’re proud to say that for the 4th consecutive year we’re working alongside POW UK to help them in their mission to preserve our planet.

How does SunGod work with POW UK and what do they do?

In their own words 'POW UK is a charity that helps turn passionate outdoor people into effective climate advocates, who can protect the places and lifestyles they love from climate change'. The idea is to build a community of athletes, scientists and business leaders dedicated to advancing climate policies. Through the sale of Limited Edition goggle straps and the most recent Black Friday charity promotion, SunGod has donated over £10k so far to POW UK. These donations have been fundamental to allowing POW UK to continue their work of empowering and educating individuals on the climate crisis.

“We're stoked to partner with SunGod for a fourth year. The team at SunGod see first-hand the impact that climate change has on our mountain environments and recognise that we need to take action to help protect those places we all love to shred. Thanks to their support we can continue the work we do, fighting the good fight!”

How do SunGod donations get used?

Over the past 3 years, the SunGod community has helped to raise vital funds for POW UK. A big portion of this money has been used to fund some of POW UK’s biggest campaigns. These include #SaveTheSkiTrain, a petition to reinstate the cancelled Eurostar Ski Train to enable greener travel to the Alps, and the biggest campaign to date, Divest The Dirt...

What’s new for POW UK this year?

2 big focuses for POW UK in 2022 will be the Pow Pledge and Divest The Dirt. The POW Pledge launched last year and is a digital tool kit to help businesses take impactful actions towards Net Zero. "We've fully re-built the software so that it's a much smoother and more intuitive experience." Say POW UK, "It should now be even easier for businesses to take climate action."

Alongside this comes Divest The Dirt, a new POW UK campaign that promises to shake things up - Despite 75% of the UK government declaring a climate crisis, nearly £10 million of UK taxpayer’s money is still being used to prop up fossil fuel funds. Divest The Dirt is geared towards mobilising the UK outdoor community in a campaign to demand a divestment of these funds. This means shifting investment away from climate-destroying fossil fuels, and towards sustainable solutions instead.
