Rookie Freeskier Smashed Personal Goals At World Cups & X Games In A Bid To Represent Norway At Pyeongchang in 2018

It’s always exciting to see newer talent achieve great results in a break through season. Eirik joined us as an ambassador earlier in the year and we’re so stoked to see his passion, energy and commitment translate into success. Here’s his take on some highlights from 2017.

This season has, without a doubt, been the best so far. Finally, I got to compete at World Cup Events and was lucky enough to travel around the world as a result. My strongest discipline this season has been Big Air where I got two podiums in city World Cup Big Airs at Milan, Italy and Mönchengladbach, Germany.

I had only previously attended one World Cup, and now to get to podiums back to back was really incredible! I had never really experienced anything like it before and I was extremely happy to finally get some results in big contests.

Later in the season one of my biggest dreams came true - Through a Norwegian qualifier, I got a spot in the Big Air event at X Games Norway at Hafjell. I was so excited and couldn’t wait for the comp to start in March. I rode the competition with no expectations at all. The most important part was to have fun and I did not expect to make it through to finals at all.

I was so stoked even to qualify to the finals and even more so when I ended up placing 2nd in my first ever X Games. My runs were a triple cork 1440 and a pre-nose switch dub 1260 mute, a trick that had never been landed before. To put my own stamp on a sport I love so much and be a part of the sports progression is something I’m really passionate about. This event is something I will never forget and will for sure be one of the highlights of my career.

Towards the end of the season I got the call to be a part of the Norwegian Freeski Team. To represent my country is such a privilege and I’m super excited to be part of such a progressive group of unbelievably talented freeskiers. This gave me the opportunity to train through the Summer at camps in the US and New Zealand as well as compete in more world-class events.

2018 is a big season for me (and all other aspiring Olympians). The Norwegian Freeski team places for this event are still undecided but I’d like to just do my best and hope to be selected to represent my country. Bring it on!

Watch this space – Eirik is coming in hot and hungry for the challenges 2018 will bring!
