Courtney at Cocodona 250: Pushing Limits in Classics⁴

Live from Arizona

News

A Team SunGod athlete, Courtney Dauwaulter redefined what’s possible in endurance running - with legendary wins at Western States, UTMB, and Hardrock, often within the same season. Known for her unmatched grit, huge smile, and love of the unknown, Courtney runs not just to race, but to push her limits.

This week, she’s back at it, taking on the brutal Cocodona 250 - a 250-mile epic across Arizona’s unforgiving terrain. It’s one of the toughest ultramarathons on the planet, and Courtney is once again showing up with her trademark mix of joy, strength, and total commitment to the long haul.

And this time, she’s bringing something new to the start line.

New Signature Series Classics⁴

To mark the moment, we’re proud to launch the Courtney Dauwalter Signature Series Classics⁴ - bold lifestyle sunglasses designed by Courtney herself, and built to bring her unstoppable energy into your everyday life.

Following the sell-out success of last year’s Classics³, the latest series is brighter, bolder, and packed with upgrades, featuring 8KO® lens tech, snap hinges for added durability, and Infinite™ recycled frames.

Live Updates: Courtney at Cocodona 250

We’ll be sharing live updates from Cocodona as Courtney takes on all 250 miles in her Classics⁴. Check back here for updates as the race unfolds.

Day 1: Race Start and the First 36 Miles

Before dawn had even broken Courtney set off with 306 other runners to take on the epic Cocodona course. She was in good spirits feeling good and ready for the adventure of the next few days. Oh and is that a new signature series we see on her face?

By 0900am she was the Top female and holding 5th overall. The first portion of the race is brutal with runners not seeing their support crews for 36miles. Due to the extreme weather in the Arizona wilderness they must also carry 4litres of water with them adding significant weight as they head up the first few climbs.

As Courtney entered Crown King she was full of smiles. Touching base with her crew and checking in with her Husband, and king of planning, Kevin. A pack change, clean of her glasses and she was off. Into another climb and gaining some places.

Courtney now sits in 2nd overall heading into the first night. We will catch her again at the Whiskey Row aid station and then Mingus Summit in the early hours of the morning.

Stay tuned for more updates....

Day 2: Calling it a day at 108 Miles

Courtney came running into the Whiskey Row Aid station full of smiles. She had worked hard on the trail and was now the overall leader of the race overtaking Dan Green. She lit up the streets of Prescott with high-fives, smiles and even taking her time to stop at the traffic lights.

Kevin, Courtney's husband, and crew were ready for her, refuelling, topping up waters and getting her ready for the first night of the race. She picked up friend and pacer, Mike Ambrose, and swiftly left in good spirits, giving her time to the spectators who had lined the streets.

The next section would see her summit Mingus Mountain, hit the 100 mile marker of the race and the first long section running in the dark. The sunny Arizona landscape had turned into a cloud filled environment with torrential rain, cold weather and even sleet and snow up the climbs.

After hitting 100 miles, unfortunately Courtney's body wasn't functioning as it should and in her own words "total body shutdown stopped us early this time" causing her to finish her race at mile 108. She is resting up and doing well.

Although it wasn't Courtney's day, she continues to be a true inspiration with how she shows up and the entertainment she puts on. She will be back and we can't wait to see it. Proud to have her as part of Team SunGod.
